Motivation Monday: Results of the November 30-Day Challenge

Ah, November. You were a fantastic month for me! What can I say? I worked my butt off, literally, and the results have been ever in my favor. And because today is #MotivationMonday, I thought I’d share that with you.

So here’s the saying:

Work for it

And how true it is! For the month of November, my 30-day challenge was the Jillian Michael’s 30-day shred: I promised myself thirty days of exercise to both feel and look better. I took measurements (not photos) before I embarked on this journey and those measurements looked something like this:

Bust: 89 cm
Waist: 81.5 cm
Hips: 95 cm
Thigh: 57 cm
Bicep: 28.5 cm

Now, this shred consisted of a Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 video, each of which was 20 minutes of workout that alternated strength, abs, and cardio to maximize calorie burn & muscle toning.

30-day shredEach level was completed daily for 10 days before moving up a level–and by level three you realized this workout is no joke! When I started this workout challenge, I had nothing other than resistance bands, and so for five days I used those as my weights before I upgraded to full wine bottles. YES! You can work out at home without any equipment at all — simply by using what you have in your house. Tins of beans, full water bottles, whatever you have that you feel comfortable using.

Fifteen days in to this shred I was already seeing results–and that was having missed two days here and there. My hips were slimming down, my arms were toned, and I all around felt more amazing. I actually enjoyed looking in the mirror for once — and I’m not ashamed to tell you right now that I did a few “runway” walks in my various outfits because I felt so amazing!

Progress

You can imagine if I felt so great after fifteen days how I would feel after 30 right? Well, I sadly slacked off for five days at one point, so I’m a little behind in my endeavor, but I will be making up those five days this week! But, after 30 days (if you are counting I’ve missed 7 total days at this point) my end measurements look like this:

Bust: 87 cm
Waist: 79 cm
Hips: 90 cm
Thigh: 53 cm
Bicep: 29 cm

And THAT is progress. (You might not think it’s a lot considering, but NONE of my clothes fit, so to me it’s just HUGE) JUST DO IT!

Harder

I know a lot of you know you need to focus on health — on eating habits and exercise– and you think to yourself, I just don’t have time. Well, I assure you with this workout, all you need is to get out of your head and just do it! It is 20 minutes a day. Twenty minutes a day to become the you you’ve always wanted to be — the one who isn’t afraid to strut in front of the mirror; the one who needs to buy new jeans because nothing in her closet fits any more.

Do the video while dinner is simmering on the stove. Do the video right after you put your kids to bed before you cram yourself on the couch to catch up on the DVR. If you want it, you’ll make the tie; And I promise you, if you dedicate those 20 minutes, you will feel better and you will see results you never even dreamed possible.

Don't be upsetThis would absolutely be a great challenge to jump-start your New Year’s Resolutions! And hey, you don’t even need to join a gym, let alone leave the comfort of your own home, to achieve results! As Charlie Sheen would say, “Winning!” I hope I’ve encouraged you…Trust me, YOU CAN DO IT.
